This masterclass features a screening of the 13-minute film On the Fringes of Tierdom, The Case for Utah in the age of post-protectionist wine business. Written and narrated by Stephanie Cuadra, the short doc stars five women winegrowers represented by Terrestoria and suggests that tertiary markets like the Beehive State are one answer to the critical challenges small producers face due to massive consolidation among American wine distributors.
Human input is a decisive component of terroir. But are wines made by women necessarily different than those made by their male counterparts? Let’s address gender identity in wine and decide for ourselves if a female touch is recognizable in this lineup of organically farmed gems from women-led cellars. #tierdommovie
